Rev. Byrd is a full-time Servant and Shepherd for the Lord. He is a gifted preacher, teacher and leader and his congregants characterize him as "energetic", "generous" and "motivational". The Church has thrived under his leadership. God gave Rev. Byrd has combined the Diaconate ministry and ordains both men and women; reestablished the Young Adults and Parenting Ministries; expanded the Bereavement Ministry; and developed an information technology ministry to enhance the church's mission to spread the gospel. Pastor Byrd has re-structured the Youth Ministry to make its focus more relevant to today's participants and created a Community Relations Ministry to facilitate greater communication and cooperation between the church and the surrounding neighborhoods. After coming through Pastor Byrd's seven-year plan "Building on a Firm Foundation", which is based on Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, for 2013, the Church adopted the theme "A New Era of Faith" which is based on Hebrews 12:1. In this new era, "A Strategic Plan for Ministry," as envisioned by Pastor Byrd, and developed and adopted by the congregation, will guide the Church's ministry for the next five years, 2013 - 2017.
