Why We Walk
Our Steps Have a Purpose
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer gives communities an opportunity to stand together against a disease that has touched countless individuals and families. Our participation is about more than completing a walk — it is about showing up for people whose lives have been affected by breast cancer.
Celebrate Survivors
We walk to celebrate breast cancer survivors and to recognize their courage, perseverance, and strength.
Support the Fight
We walk alongside individuals and families currently facing breast cancer so they know they are surrounded by a caring community.
Help Save Lives
Our team’s participation and fundraising help support American Cancer Society patient services, community programs, and lifesaving research.

Two Things to Do Before Walk Day
Planning to participate? Be sure to register for the walk and, if you need transportation from Zion, reserve your seat on the church bus. Separate sign-ups will be available for each.
1. Register for the Walk
Join Lady Byrd’s Brigade through the official Making Strides Against Breast Cancer registration page. Registering with our team helps us walk together and represent Zion Baptist Church as one united brigade.
2. Need a Ride? Take the Zion Bus
Zion Baptist Church plans to provide transportation for participants who would like to ride together to the walk. Space may be limited, so participants who need transportation should complete the separate bus sign-up form once it becomes available.
Please note: Walk registration and Zion bus transportation are separate. If you plan to walk and ride the church bus, please complete both sign-ups once the forms are available.
Your Involvement Matters
There Is a Place for You on the Team
You do not have to be a breast cancer survivor or have a personal connection to breast cancer to participate. This is an opportunity for our entire church family and community to demonstrate support, raise awareness, and stand with everyone whose life has been touched by this disease.
Invite a family member. Bring a friend. Encourage your ministry group to participate. Wear your pink and come ready to walk, fellowship, encourage one another, and help Lady Byrd’s Brigade make a strong showing for Zion Baptist Church.
Join the Brigade. Take a Step. Make a Difference.
On Saturday, October 17, Lady Byrd’s Brigade will walk together at the Tidal Basin in support of the fight against breast cancer. We hope you will put on your pink, bring your family and friends, and join Zion Baptist Church for this meaningful day of fellowship, remembrance, encouragement, and hope.
