INTENT:
The Donna M. Keller Scholarship for the Written Word aims to highlight and promote excellence amongst those who capture, interpret, and convert the spoken word to develop and maintain an accurate, complete historical record of events. This is inclusive of all forms of writing professions including: journalism, writing, captioning, court reporting and content writing.
This scholarship has been established to support a college-bound senior who has shown a passion for English, journalism, or court reporting. This scholarship is a non-renewable award of $1,500.00 disbursed in two payments of $750.00.
Payment Schedule:
Payment 1: $750.00 September 15, 2020
Payment 2: $750.00 *January 15, 2020
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
1.The applicant must be a 2020 recipient of a high school diploma or GED.
2.The applicant must be accepted into a college, university or vocational training program thatstarts in 2020 and enrolled for the Fall 2020 semester.
3.The applicant must be able to show a transcript or report card of recent class completion. A GPAof 3.3 or above is not required but strongly preferred.
AN ACCEPTABLE APPLICATION PACKET WILL INCLUDE:
1.Transcript or copy of your report card through May/June 2020.
2.Proof of college/university/program acceptance.
3.Proof of enrollment in a college/university/program for the Fall 2020 semester or quarter.
4.One (1) Essay (to not exceed 500 words) that showcases your writing skills. Topic: What areyour goals for the future? How does your intended major fit into these goals?
5.Completed Application Form (below)
TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION:
An completed application will include the application form, transcript or report card, proof of college acceptance, proof of enrollment for the Fall 2020 semester or quarter, and essay.
Completed applications must be received by Friday, September 3, 2020. Decisions will be made by Sunday, September 12, 2020.
